Sorry that this reply is so so late, but I hardly check my aol mail box
anymore. I was rather interested to see that you discovered records
from Zapotlan el Grande that connected your Loza y Linares lineage to
the Villa de Leon. Well that is without a doubt Leon, Guanajuato. The
Loza y Linares family and Lopez de Lara are both definitely from there.
DEFINITELY.
My close friend, cousin, genealogist, and writer, don Mariano Gonzalez
Leal, has researched the Loza y Linares lineages since they migrated to
Mexico from Spain. He himself is a Loza y Linares and currently lives
in Leon, Guanajuato. He has access to all kinds of records from Leon's
historical archives, both public and private. Some of the Loza y
Linares and Lopez de Lara's descendants eventually moved to
Jalostotitlan, Lagos de Moreno, Ayo el Chico, Arandas, San Miguel el
Alto, and San Juan de los Lagos.
It seems that they also migrated to Zapotlan el Grande. Where is that
anyway?

Steven Hernandez

Subject: [ranchos] Villa de Leon Mexico
I'm doing records from Zapotlan El Grande Jalisco and am finding
families from Villa de Leon Mexico.. any idea where that is? I
checked the wonderful location dictionary but found nothing. The time
period is early to mid 1700's. The families are Losa y Linares,
Sanches de la Mejorada and Lopes de Lara and Alcaraz.
any help appreciated
Linda in Wa.
