John, if you do get to Jerez may I recommend contacting Leonardo de la 
Torre Berumen at leon_torre@... for help in locating ranchos 
and villas.  He doesn't speak English but is very willing to help.  he 
is a professional genealogist and has more information than most.  I'm 
told he charges if his help is extensive but he never charged me for 
anwering questions.  He lives in Jerez
