Hi Tammy,
I'm glad you're asking your questions. I'm not sure how much help I can be
but I'll try. When you say that you're not getting any cooperation what do
you mean? Is your husband supportive? If so maybe you can send him on a fact
finding mission. It could be that he can get you the info you need to get
stared. If he could just find out your mom's grandparents names and areas
they came from that would be a tremendous help. Do you know if Victoria was
born in Jamay Jalisco and when? Did her parents or grandparents come to
the US with her?
If you can confirm that she was born in Jamay and it was before 1958 then
you might have a chance of finding her on one of these films that you can
get at your local Family History Center. Later if you need help learning
how to come up with such a list as follows we can go over that:

Diane,
Hi. I just read your post and I see that your husbands name is
Godinez. I too, am researching my husband's family tree. My mother-
in-law's maiden name is Godinez and she is from Jamay, Jalisco. Her
names is Victoria and her parents were Catarino & Margarita(Lopez)
Godinez. Unfortunately. I am not getting any cooperation with any
living relatives so I have begun the search on my own. Not having
much luck due to the fact I don't have much information to start off
with.
Any help you may be able to give, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you....Tammy Miramontes

Dear Joseph and Other Members,
I appreciate the opportunity to join with you in sharing
information. I work at an elementary school, am active in church,
serve as a board member of Somos Primos, and Family History is my
passion. I have researched my husband's Mexican family for
numerous
years and have just really gotten in to my own Canadian roots in
the
last couple of years.
My husband was born in the rancho of Santa Rita, in Ayo el
Chico
area, in 1950. His family still has land there and our most recent
visit was last March 2002. It was then that I had the opportunity
to
meet Hugo Moises in Capilla de Guadalupe. Previously, we had met
on
the Internet. He is distantly related to my husband. I also know
Steven Hernandez, from meetings with our SHHAR (Society of
Hispanic,
Historical, and Ancestral Research) group. He too is distantly
related to my husband Ramon Godinez.
I have many names in my files but I am best with research in
the
Atotonilco el Alto area of Jalisco. I work at a Family History
Center in Bonita, California which has other films that are part
of my research. Some of those films cover Ayo el Chico, Tepatitlan
de Morelos, La Barca, and Jalostotitlan.
If I can help anyone with their research, I will be glad to do
so. Just please be patient. It takes a while to put some names
together and I like to do the best job possible.
