OK, then, Joseph,
How do you write and pronounce all those subsequent
generations: primera, secunda, tercera, (I don't know how to say the
rest). Also, why is pentabuelo listed as antepasado de 6th generation
when "pent" means "five" to me. It looks like the pentabuelo should go
with "5th".
well if you look at it in the Spanish the father is the first
generation, the grandfather is the 1st grandfather but the 2nd
generation, the g-Grandfather is the 2nd grandfather (Bis) but the 3rd
generation, the GG grandfather is the 3rd grandfather (Tatara) but the
4th generation, etc.
I would like more feedback from the group is these designations are
being currently used in Mexico? I mean I talked with Luz Montejano and
she seemed to indicate that this was the old style and not in current
use. Then again maybe I didn't quite understand correctly.

my name.
As far as I know there isn't any generally accepted alternative to the
Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great Great Grandfather, etc
designations.

Trasabuelo o Tresabuelo, antepasado de 4ª
generación
5. Trastatarabuelo o
Cuadriabuelo o Cuatriabuelo o Chozno, antepasado de 5ª generación

DEAR MAKAS:
IS THERE A SYSTEM OTHER THEN USING THE "GREAT" WORD TO NUMBER
SITUATION IN THE LINE? WOULD IT BE CORRECT, INSTEAD, TO NUMBER AS
FALLOWS: SON, FATHER-MOTHER, GRANDPARENTS, GREAT-GRANDPARENTS, AND
THEN MENTION THEM AS THIRD-GRANDPARENTS, FOURTH-GRANDPARENTS AND
SO FORTH? I THINK THAT WAY IT'S EASIER TO VIEW THEIR PLACES IN THE
GENS LINE.
