Ranchos, Pueblos, Ciudades

 
My father used to refer to Jerez as "mi Pueblo".  Was that correct for his time (1913)?
 
The only other word he would use was "la ciudad de" when he spoke of the larger cities, especially when the city had the same name as the state.
