Re: [ranchos] Escribir en Español/Writing in Spanish

Hi Alicia:

I am glad to see that someone else is iterested in writing Spanish correctly.  Your spanish sounds and looks perfect! I don't see anything wrong with it.  It isn't easy, Spanish is a very difficult language specially when it comes to conjugating verbs.  I don't consider myself an expert.
I had most of my schooling here, in California, and never had a formal class in Spanish. I did live in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico for 10 years and had the opportunity to learn by osmosis and immersion.  I came from a family where Spanish was spoken every day.  My parents insisted that we learn the proper use and not to fall for the "Spanglish" that we encounter everyday.  We are attempting the same with our grankids but it is an uphill battle...

There is a web site that I sometimes use whenever I have a problem with a word: http://tradu.scig.uniovi.es/conjuga.html
It is a web site for the Diccionario de Español.  It is  provided by the  University of Oviedo, in Spain. Check it out, I think you are going to be pleasently surprised by how easy it is to use.

Subject: [ranchos] Escribir en Español/Writing in Spanish

John,

Thanks for that great tip!  Muchas Gracias por la leccion acerca de la letra ñ.

What other secrets are there waiting to be discovered with respect to the correct punctuation in Spanish. I'm sure there are other short cuts to grammar and punctuation. Where can we go to find this information on the net. A que sitio nos puedes enviar para obtener esa informacion en el internet?

I thank you for your patience with those of us who are Spanish writing challenged and for your willingness to come forward and assist us.

John I imagine that whenever you see our atrocious spanish you must cringe. I hope you will understand that as Joseph explained for many of us, spanish is our second language. In my case I came to the USA when I was two. All of my formal education has been in english and I've never studied spanish but I have always spoken spanish at home and with extended family, including at home with my husband.

Muchas Gracias por tu ayuda.............Alicia

Atentamente............Alicia A Carrillo
