Regarding Coat of Arms:
I understand to use a "Coat of Arms" emblem, one has
to have proof that he/she is a direct descendant of a
person that was entitled to use that Coat of Arms.
I've seen a number of Coat of Arms for both sides of
my family, but I do not have proof that any one of my
families were ever entitled to use or claim them.
