Re: [ranchos] Answer to Mary Garana Allen

Hello, Carol:
I have plans to give them  photos of our immediate family and a couple of photos that would interest them, especially  of their great grandfather and an aunt.  I suppose I want to begin by setting them at ease....and calming myself because when I get excited or nervous, I forget my Spanish or it comes out badly.  I know, just take a deep breath.

Joseph Puente has reminded me about taking a tape recorder and plenty of batteries and of course I have to take my camera.  I'll share my good news with the Rancho family.  Thanks for telling me about the Kinko idea.  Yes, I am going to a small city, so we'll see.

We are such a small family; I am actively shopping for "cousins" because I believe that the little ones in our family should have a much larger family.  Plus, I am afraid they will lose touch with our heritage.  They don't have to be flag wavers, just know enough to have carino and appreciation for their roots.   Again, thanks.   Mary

PS  I do plan to have a great time.

I'm also a collector of photos and have "classics" in
my colletion.  You may come across some "classic
photos" they may not want to part with.  Here is a
suggestion.  I don't know if there are local kinko
stores, probably have to drive to the larger towns but
make a copies for yourself.  I had one family from
CA., send me pictures and I scanned them in my
computer, made copies, then sent the originals back.
Also it's nice to give them a photo of yourself and
family (sharing) makes the difference.  I have reached
out to so many cousins and as a matter fact just
received a photo yesterday from my prima in Los
Angeles.

Have a safe trip and I think it's wonderful you are
visiting your relatives.
