have it a strong suggestion.
Joseph,
I do not think you should "ax" any member simply because they have not submitted a
genealogy report. There are many possible reasons why this may have not been done---
jobs, lack of time, lack of resources, lack of family sources, etc. Everyone from the
ranchos area may have something to contribute; the genealogy report may be the least
important item. Something as simple as a discussion of capirotada may bring back
memories so real and so important that it far outweighs a laundry list of people going
back 300 years.
I feel very strongly about this. I offer my spot in the membership to someone else who
does not have the "requirements" but wants to stay in the group. I have done everything
the group has been asked to do, including participation in discussions.
We need more people, not less. We need more history, not less. We need more ideas, not
less. We don't need more web site space, we need more more memories. We need more of
everything, not less of everything. Genealogy reports and DNA reports are only part of the
entire picture as we explore our roots and ourselves.
I appreciate all you have done and the energy you have provided for the group. I anticipate
that you will post this. I further anticipate that I will be axed unless you reconsider your
requirements.
Respectfully,
Ed
