Settling of Nueva Galicia; early 16th Century


 
 
 
In the above link to History of Mexico - Indigenous Jalisco, this article by John P. Schmal states that the colonial province of Nueva Galicia included, besides Jalisco,  only present-day Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Nayarit and the northwest corner San Luis Potosi, and that the Spaniards and some Indian allies began settlement there in the early 16th century.   The article also describes which Indian tribes settled in various towns.  This article sounds familiar.  Maybe someone has posted a link to it before?
