Sr. Leonardo de la Torre Berumen

I am back home for a few days and am trying to catch up before I leave again!  I had written to a good friend of mine who is with the Coahuila archives.  Miguel Angel is the person who introduced me to Leonardo de la Torre Berumen in Jerez a couple of years ago.  I had written to Miguel Angel to ask him more about Sr. Leonardo and here is his response: ( My quick translation to English would be:)

 

 Berumen is in charge of the Archivo Municipal of Jerez and is a respectable person.  He is far from Los Altos de Jalisco, which is next to Zacatecas, he has to go on the highway and I do not know if he has the time....tell your friends (my Ranchos group) that I can get them information regarding Los Altos.  Here (in the archives) we have information and if they want (a copy of ) the records I will see how we can get them.  Of course, they are your friends and that is my job here in the archives.  (the rest refers to another of our mutual friend).......In a nutshell, Miguel Angel is prepared and willing to help us with anything he can.  Even though he is employed by the State of Coahuila, his main interest is genealogy and he has helped me tremendously in the past and continues to help anyone he can.  He even put together a trip for a few of us to Zacatecas and took us to all the archives and historical points of interest.  This might be something for us to consider in the future......a trip to Zacatecas!

Berumen es el responsable del Archivo Municipal en Jerez, es una respetable persona. Sin embargo, esta lejos de los Altos de Jalisco, pegado a Zacatecas, tiene que dar una vuelta por carretera y no se si tenga tiempo en su oficina, diles a tus amigos que yo les puedo conseguir informacion acerca de los Altos, aqui tenemos informacion, y si quieren Actas, veo como conseguirlas. Por supuesto, sin honorarios, por dos razones, son amigos tuyos y es mi trabajo aqui en el Archivo. Aqui todo va bien. Lucas quiere que me dedique mas a genealogia.
