RE: [ranchos] Digest Number 694

Susana
Like you, I have found films at FHL in SLC that were 'not what the
description said'. One case was a film for Lagos de Moreno where the film
was only 'natural births' instead of as described as legitimate. That was 6
years ago and it is still listed that way. My sister and I have been
working on another film in Banamichi, Sonora, Mex and just where our
g-grandmother and g-aunt should have been, the film was totally faded, you
could only see slight pen scratches. After many years of working with this
film, we thought to ask the window to please order another film since this
film was not readable. They order it and it was in the next day and filed
in the 'overflow' section. I took the old film back to the window
explaining that a better film was in the overflow section. The LDS employee
said no problem, just file it in the regular section. So I took a
post-a-note and attached it inside the box of the old film and noted that
there was a better copy in the overflow section. This way if they decide
to toss one of them, hopefully it won't be the better copy. I also put a
post-a-note inside the new film box noting that this was the better of two
copies. This won't help those that order the film for FHCs, but it will
help those of us that get to the FHL in SLC.

Reminder to all,
Joseph mentioned this before, when you reply back to an e-mail, please do
those on Digest mode a BIG favor and delete all other e-mails before sending
out your reply. It makes it much easier to read our messages.
Thanks

Subject: Jerez, Zacatecas. La Inmaculada

To anyone researching in La Inmaculada/Jerez, Zacatecas

I have some information that can be valuable for anyone researching in Jerez

1. THE CASE OF THE 20-25 PAGES OF MARRIAGES

The first time I reviewed the film # 440059. Matrimonios 1712-1745. I
noticed that the film started in the middle of the book. I searched for the
missing pages until I found them. They are in the previous film. Film #
440058. Informacion Matrimonial 1961. Yes, you read right 1961. In this film
after the 1961 information, all the way at the end of the film.( You even
pass a section in "blank".) There is the first roll of film of marriages.
There are about 20-25 pages of the oldest marriages in microfilm for Jerez
(1712), part of the 1st book.I already spoke to the expert for
Latin-American in the main Library in Utah (that was 2 years ago). I hope
they will place a note in the Library Catalogue in the near future.
