Re: [ranchos] An Unsolved Mystery.

Jose Roman,

Thanks for your message.

I hope not to say in my e-Mail messages an incorrect _expression_, but I know that my English is very bad. Any way I don't like offend to anybody, I don't use "offensive words", and my intention is other. In my house, may mother did say me "te voy a quemar la boca" or "lavate esa bocota con jabón" when I, or my brothers and sisters said any bad word (maldiciones o groserías).

I understand the John message in the correct way, his comment benefit me, because is for my future corrections. I will effort more to write correct English, I promise you.

That you say of your experience learning English is very interesting. I relate you a funny account "chiste", I hope you can translate to the rest of the ranchos group:

Sincerely

José Román,

I agree your english is not perfect (neither is mine ask Marge Vallazza), but I VERY VERY much agree that it takes tremedous courage to jump into the middle of a primarily english speaking group and making an effort like you are doing. I don't make that effort in the Spanish only groups that are available. I should but don't. My thanks and encouragement go to you and I hope you continue to communicate with the group. John Gonzalez is a great member of the group and has helped me when I needed translation work. The message I send out when people are applying for group membership was fine tuned and polished by John. I said all that so you receive his commentary on your english in the way I know he meant it. . .with the heart of a person that wants to help.

I would like to help in anyway I can but my Spanish writing is worst than my spoken Spanish and that means it's pretty bad. Hey you can ask Marge Vallazza she knows that even my written English is bad as well. I definitely didn't do well in English class in school. In fact when I was 5 years old (or was it 6) in the beginning class (Kindergarten) I was almost getting put in with the kids that were "mentally retarded" only because I couldn't speak English, at that age I only spoke Spanish, but look at me now and see how far I have come from those times. Let me call you on the phone and we can fumble our way through a conversation but I'm truly handicapped in my genealogical research by the loss of my primary language skills.

I said all that to say that you should continue working on your English. The Ranchos group very much appreciates your participation and I am still hopefull we can still one day arrange an interview on your experience in studying at the AGN. Keep talking to us in English. . .now that we are talking about this I'm sure if there is something that we don't quite understand we'll ask. Keep talking in English. Your contributions are great!

thanks and continue.

Sinceramente,

joseph
