I am interested to know how computer-savvy Mr. De La Torre is as regards
doing genealogy research online. He has an e-mail address, so obviously he
is computer-literate, but if I e-mailed him, would he know what I was talking
about if I mentioned the IGI, Ancestry.com, World Connect, etc.? Would he
be able to scan and e-mail copies of records and photos, or would he prefer
snail-mail? I cannot go to Jerez, and all my communication with him
would be via e-mail or snail-mail, and I could send money to him from our local
post office, the way I see the green-carders here doing (sending money to
Mexico).

are they contributing to? Are you saying this is a "going rate?"
Arturo
says he is going to talk more to el señor Leonardo de La Torre.
Ed
Serros was in communication with him before. Ed, how was your
experience?

If there was a coordinated effort to line up all parties/surnames and locations then it would be possible for the searcher to do each line and make a good living. Do you agree ? I wonder if this is a practicable suggestion. Arturo may be on to something and if it works out then a link will have been established that we all can follow. We would need to see the film documentation or it would be valueless.
I would like to hear your take on the matter as I think that this could blossom. yes
there is a good possibility. Let's see what Arturo says after he talks to him
more. We might need to wait until he gets back from MX as I'm pretty sure he
is going to get together with him during his trip.

Arturo what do you suppose a figure would be for this monthly stipend?
Are you thinking that several of us that might be interested could
contribute to come up with this monthly stipend? Did you get an idea of
what he was talking about?
I wonder how many hours of research $100 would buy me? Well that is all
I'd be willing to contribute. I have a dead end in Zacatecas, Zacatecas
I need "advice" in knowing how to get around.
let me know if you think this would buy me something and if so I'll send
you 5 scanned records that will give you the information he will need to
do my preliminary investigation.

I have been corresponding with this man for the last week and I will
be meeting with him during my upcoming trip to Mexico. He has
proposed doing research in the Zacatecas state archives for a monthly
stipend. I was wondering if there is anybody who is intereste and
would be willing to "try him out". His name is Leonardo de La Torre
Berumen and he is the municipal archivist in Jerez.

Huejucar, Mezquitic y Monte Escobedo.
realmente me llevo buen tiempo haciendolo, yaque mi
