Menudo


 
Okay.  Here is something I have heard my parents discuss:
Do you add patas de puerco (pig's feet) or Patas de res (beef feet) to
your menudo.  They both agree that you don't mix meats.  
In their opinion, Que asco revolver carne de puerco con res!

Well, last Friday, I had menudo with pig's feet at my inlaws for
breakfast, and I have to agree with my folks.  The menudo was good,
but the broth was kinda dark and fatty.  
My folks are from Jalisco, and my mother-in-law's family was from
Jalisco too, so it mustn't be a regional thing?  
Must be a family thing?  
So the question of the day....  do you add pig or beef feet?  
I've made menudo, and I add neither if it's my choice.  
Don't like anyone's feet in my soup!
