Re: [ranchos] wrong Las Animas, sorry

Hola, Jose. I'm a new comer to Los Ranchos but not to the quest for family information. Your family name prompts me to share some of my findings with you on the chance that there may be a connection. I recently learned that my grandmother's name was/may be Maria Macias...and not Maria Garcia which is the name/person my mother Guadalupe (12/12/03), was searching for until the day she died. Grandmother Maria died prematurly 1906 (age 17) Por. Diaz Hospital/ Ciudad Chihuahua leaving Guadalupe in the care friends (Petra/Tomas Dominguez). Maria's husband had been pressed into military service by fed. gov. Maria Macias would die before he returned to reclaim his daughter Guadalupe..age2-3. When Petra/Tomas died, Guadalupe was "adopted" and taken away to the USA by foster grandparents Alejandra Castillo and Gaspar Flores whom I came to know as my grandparents. Guadalupe later married Leonardo Felix (Antonia Fernandez, Jerez, Zac/Trinidad Felix-Hermita Guadalupe, Zac.). Once in the USA, Guadalupe never heard again from her father. I can supply you with more details... if any of these names or situations make sense to you. A review of Maria Macias' death notice indicates she was single, age 17, and hailed from Parral. Maria was believed to have married "Jose Carrillo" ( Zac.) in Ciudad Chihuahua but I have been as yet unable to find any birth or marriage record during my visits there. I also visited the archives at Parral (1999) but the records were not yet accessible for research. Please advise if any of this makes sense to you./Adelante-Raul Felix

Al; Thank you for your post about Jerez, Zacatecas.  My grandparents are from there and I didn't know that it was so close to Jalisco.  Do you have a contact with a Macias family member in Jerez ?  I am a descendant of Francisco Macias and Leonarda Ramirez, of Jerez, Zacatecas.

Sincerely,

Jose Luis Macias

When we visited Jerez, Zacatecas, about 10 years ago, I noticed people would come in bus loads from Santa Maria de los Angeles, Jalisco, to Jerez to do their shopping on Saturdays.  Also, I met an elderly gentlemen that lived in both Jerez and Santa Maria de los Angeles.

There may have been families from Santa Maria de los Angeles that had family ties in Jerez, since Jerez was the largest city in the area for many years. Who knows?

Regards,

Alberto Duarte Prieto.
