Friends; I keep seeing locations that are not Jalisco and presume
that those locations are very close to Jalisco. I can't find "Jamay"
Jalisco on a map, was it town that is now abandoned? I wonder, where
is Rancho San Agustin ? How close are La Barca to Guadalagara ?
The reason that I asked was because my Great-grandfather (Estavan
Ramirez)was born in Portezuelo, Jalisco , married my Great-
grandmother (Alvina Navaro)Born in San Agustin, Jalisco. My mom said
that Estevan was a french soldier that changed his name from Dubois
to Ramirez. He met and married Alvina(the foreman's daughter)while in
hiding at San Agostin. My mother,Julia Ramirez was born to Estevan
and Alvina's son Modesto Ramirez, in Guadalajara on 22 May 1908. My
mother said that the records of my great-grandfather, Estevan are
kept by a lady in "Chapulapec". I think there is a famous place
called Chapultepec, but is it in Jalisco ? Is there a place in
Jalisco by the same name ?How would a person check on this
in "Chapultapec"? Is there records of the French kept there? I wonder
if there are records of the French army somewhere and how to access
them. I don't know how to look for the source. I am sure that I am
not the first to wonder or will wonder about this.
All my other ancestors from my grandmother Lucia Cejas were all
from "Jamay" but there seems to be no city by that name on my map of
Mexico.
I was told that during the "revolucion" many of the records in
Jalisco were sent to Durango and other near places for safe keeping.
Has anyone heard where in Durango the records were sent ? I want to
know where the records were taken from and where they went.
I like reading the messages and get good information from them. I
am glad that I joined this group.
