Maldonado = Mandonado ???

has anyone ever seen the Mandonado variation for Maldonado? I have some 
records where the names are used as variations of one another.
It might be a good project to one day start putting together a database 
of the different variations of the more common surnames.
I'd also love to form a database with the various given names and 
nicknames for these nicknames.

Rodriguez, Rodrigues
Gomez, Gomes
Gonzales, Gonsales, Gonzalez, Gonsalez (i'm not sure I've seen this last 
one)
