re Segundo

There are 6 Juan Segundos or Juan Jose Segundos in my maternal line, 
and they seem to have nothing in common.  Two are first-born, one is 
8th in line, one 6th, one 4th, only one is 2nd in line.  No matches 
as to birthdate. It seems that 'Segundo' at least in my family 
doesn't necessarily mean second-born or second son.
I have occasionally come across 'Segundo' meaning the same as 
'Junior' however. For example the father is Juan Bautista GOMEZ and 
his son Juan is named Juan Bautista Segundo GOMEZ, or perhaps Juan 
Bautista GOMEZ Segundo.  If the record of baptism gives just the 
child's name with no surname, as most baptisms do, it would look as 
though part of his given name is Segundo.  You can't be sure until 
you come across him as an adult.
