RE: [ranchos] Immigration standards

I work with migrant workers in my job. I am appalled sometimes at the amount of difficulties and prejudices they face. It is virtually impossible for those that are illegal to become “legal”. Basically there is a law right now that says if you crossed the border illegally you can’t change your immigration status. If you try to and they realize you have been here longer than 6 months then you can be banned from the country- for three to ten years. Everyone talks about the problem of so many illegal aliens- no one addresses that it is virtually impossible to become legal here and it is practically impossible to get a Visa to come and work here so it is a no win situation for those seeking to just have a chance at a better life and more opportunities. I could go on but that is enough of my soap box..

Subject: [ranchos] Immigration standards

The immigration issue in the United States goes beyond the Mexican and
Canadian borders.  The quota's for European countries is much higher
than for Africa, Asia, Mexico or South America. Granted that times are
much more frightening for many Americans but this has been going on as
long as legal immigration has been an issue. If your skin is light you
have a much easier time getting into this country legally. Times are
changing but sadly not on this issue..
