To add or not to add "De" in a surname?

Over the past few years, I would periodically do a check on Family Search for "Ortiz de Rosas" using the three variables...and nada. That side of the family continued to stress that "De" was part of the name. Well, we researchers know a different story.

Over the weekend, I was given an exact birth date in 1873, and was finally able to pull up a record which listed the child as "Ortiz", and the father as "Ortiz de Rosas" however, I am still unable to pull up only "Ortiz de Rosas".

Is this fun or what???
