Wow that was quick, It's amazing what you get when you put it out there.
I have been trying to recruit different family members into geneaology. I was supposed to meet with a tia today up at the Fremont FHC. I went yesterday to do my research so that if we both went today I could dedicate all my time to training her. She called this morning to say she couldn't make it but while I had her on the phone I grilled her regarding some records I found yesterday. She was born in Jalpa Zacatecas and her maternal grandmother and my mom's grandfather were brother and sister so that makes her my Tia Josefina. Her grandmother Herlinda Olmos married J. Refugio Valenzuela of Jalpa Zac and they had a son named Adalberto who's birth/baptism records I found yesterday. She was telling me about his family of brothers and sisters and said he and two of his brothers were priests and that Adalberto had spent 10 years in Rome at the Vatican.
This along with other stories I have heard led me to wonder about Church/Ordenes Records, Oral history is so informative
For the most part most of my research has been in Nochistlan and Tlachichila Zac but after finding this and two other records I find that I will soon have to go into Jalpa's records. This is where Tia Josefina comes in because I have been getting a lot of oral history from her as she was raised mostly by her grandmother as her father, brother and a sister died young and she married a gringo in Redwood City Ca in 1959 and has very little family here. She shared that when you grow up with a grandparent you hear lots of the adults' stories meant mostly for adults but because she didn't have siblings to play with she had big ears to capture all the adult stories.
I will start training her next week and hope that she will take over the research on that branch of the family. And now in addition to the records I've been ordering to date such as birth, baptism and marriages, I will also order the Ordenes de Sacerdocio and I don't know if these would also apply to nuns. I know there have been nuns in our family in Mexico.
Muchas Gracias Joseph................Alicia Carrillo.........San Jose, Ca

Does anyone know of any records that can be accessed to see if someone has gone either into the priesthood or to be a nun. Stories I have heard about numerous relations that were priests and nuns have led me to want to look for these records.
Any help would be appreciated......................Alicia Carrillo, San Jose Ca
