Zamora is in Michoacan. A few months ago, I placed a posting about how I found a relationship between peoples in parts of Jalisco (Los Altos) and those from the upper western portion of Michoacan. I think you are re-confirming what I've seen to observe.

I'm working on records from Zapotlan el Grande/Ciudad Gusman Jalisco 
and am finding many people from Samora/Zamora and can't find it on the 
map of Jalisco. Does anyone know if this town is in Jalisco or a 
neighboring state?  The time period is around 1750.
