That's something else my grandma would have cooking on her stove...camote. She would serve yams or sweet potatoes cooked in brown sugar (or peloncillo) with milk in a bowl. I never ate them, but my older sister Lissie just loved them.

<x-tad-smaller>By the way, my father used to like to eat cooked yams in their skin, and he and my mother would pour a little half-and-half and smoosh it in like they were making whipped potatoes.  I eat them out of the skin, too, but I eat them plain.</x-tad-smaller>
