John,
It sounds like your genealogy file might be set to read-only. If you
open up My Computer (or Windows Explorer) look in the folder where
you have your genealogy file stored. The file will have a .PAF
extension. Right-click on the file, select properties and see if the
attribute read-only at the bottom is checked. If it is, then uncheck
it and click OK. That should reset your genealogy database to
read/write. It doesn't sound like the PAF program is the culprit,
but your genealogy database is. To test my theory you could create a
brand new genealogy database and see if you can read and write to
it. If you can, then my theory is correct. If not, email and I'll
help you troubleshoot it.
