I used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain the petition and
naturalization papers of my Dad. Those documents contained quite a bit of
information -- his wife's name, where he was living, his race, his employment
career, children he had had, the port he used to come into the United States,
etc. It helped quite a bit, but unfortunately, what I was looking for was
not correct. He indicated he was born in Nuevo Laredo, but I found out he
used that city only because he had relatives there and didn't know where or when
he was born. However, if the information had been correct, it would have
provided valuable information regarding his past.
