Re: [ranchos] Freedom of Information Act

...Hi Joseph...this is something I used to do on a regular basis.  I used to assist people in obtaining their residency & citizenship here in the USA.  On the other hand, I also assisted people in trying to locate their parents or their parents info.

There is a form, G-639, Freedom of Information form that you may fill out and request any & all info about your relatives original applications & subsequent applications.  When you submit this form, you are required to fill in as much info as possible.  You submit it, and if they locate the file, they will send you a bill.  This bill usually costs about $25.00.  There is tons of info on these forms.  However, the only draw back is the wait time for them to send this to you.

The last one I submitted back in December came in the 1st part of May.  It was well worht the wait, as this young lady had no idea where her father was from and now we have the ranch & all.  I know they are thinking about changing some of the regulations regarding this procedure due to idenity theft.  I hope it does not change too much, as these documents are well worth it.  I am attaching a form, for your viewing & if you'd like, I am also enclosing the new website address for any & all forms thru the US Citizenship & Immigration Services.  Let me know if there is anymore that I can assist you with, as I still help others.  I just no longer have a office due to medical reasons....

Respectfully,

Smiley

I know that if a person applied for US residency or citizenship or ???
that that information can be obtained by applying to the INS. I think
Carol Muro did this but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out
where to I put the information. Does anyone in the group have experience
in getting this information? If so would you be willing to give the
group a lesson in how to do it as in a step 1, 2, 3, 4, etc kind of thing???

your help is much appreciated.
