Re: [ranchos] The Cristero Rebellion

Steve,
Hola.
My grandfather Aureliano Lopez came to the U.S. because of the Crsitero Rebellion.
He never ever wanted to return to Mexico after that.
He brought his whole family from Los Altos.
Now I know why he always had a bitterness toward ever setting foot in Mexico, again.
To this day he remains in Los Angeles w/the rest of the family.
He worked in the copper mines of Jerome , Arizona, in the 30's, a ghost town now.
I always wondered, even as a little kid, why he would never come down to San Diego, or Tijuana, to visit my father, and us.
I've recently read about the Cristeros, in my genealogical searches.
I know my ancestors had a ranch in Jalisco., so I figured, why would they have moved?
Sincerely,
Armando Lopez.
Adios por ahora.

Dear Ranchos,

When I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001, I did my History major thesis on the Cristero Rebellion.  I have the actual 30 page thesis with bibliography.  If anyone is interested, I can email it to them.  I do not mind.

Two years later, in May 2003, I prepared a Powerpoint presentation which I am now transmitting.  Hopefully, it'll inform and educate everyone as to what the Cristiada was, and who much it affected Mexico.

If there are any more questions, comments, or concerns regarding this topic, please let me know.  I would be quite interested in reading these.

Cordially,
Steven Francisco Hernandez-Lopez
