Marge, I believe you are searching for relatives with
the last name of Olague. Today in the obituary column
of the Santa Barbara News-Press newspaper, I found the
following:
"On March 8, 2005, our beloved grandfather, Felipe
Olague Menchaca peacefully passed away due to a long
term illness, with his closest family members at his
side. Felipe was born on May 26, 1919 in Jerez,
Zacatecas, Mx, to Alejo Menchaca and Aniceta Olague.
He migrated to the United States in the 1940's and
settled in Santa Barbara, CA where he contributed to
the establishment of our railroad for several years.
Two of Felipe's greatest accomplishment were marrying
the beautiful love of his life, Pauline Menchaca and
becoming an American citizen."
There was other information and you want me to send
it to you, please let me know. Both names, Olague and
Menchaca, are names that go back to the beginning of
Jerez when it was first settled.
My grandfather, Alberto Duarte Vasquez, who was from
Jerez, probably knew him or knew his father and
mother.
Regards.
Alberto Duarte Prieto.
