Alvarez, Soto and Mota files

Irma,
Check out our ranchos files.  We have 34 Alvares/Albares, 59 Mota and 1 Soto in our files.  Our one Soto is married to a Campos.  The Alvares and Mota lines should be in their own files.   We also have 3 Gomes names, but the are in Lagos de Moreno, Jal. area, and there aren't too many Ranchos members in that area.

Mis cinco centavos:  Although I haven't made connections, (I have Alvarez, Soto & Mota),  I appreciate hearing about these lines.  Hopefully, I will eventually make a connection as I hear more.  Maria making a connection is a perfect example.  Please don't taken these into private emails.

Subject: [ranchos] Open For Discussion/Limiting Specific Discussion

this is open for discussion:

The idea was brought up about suggesting that specific discussion about particular details of genealogy ties be taken to private email after the inital flow of communication since it would not be revelent to most members of the group. Hmmm . . .

Well first off it seems to me that in the recent upsurge of discussion "provoked" by Carol Lester (con carino) Maria Cortez might have been "forgotten" for possibly awhile if that thread had been quickly taken to private email. I really don't like putting a rule on this kind of thing. As long as its on topic I say let it all be said. Maybe we can just kind of internally consider when discussion about a particular connection between members has been sufficiently "advertised" so that all have had a fair chance at getting the message. On a volunteer basis we can then just let these threads fade into private email that is until some part of it needs to be brought back to the group like an addition to the genealogy line or making a connection with other group members or making an association with one surname from one area to the same surname in another area within our target area***.

[***This would be a good database for someone to work on for the "files" area. Something like a list of surnames that are well represented in the different locations in our target area].

Que Piensan? Wha'd yall think?

joseph

ps: I can't emphasis enough that setting your membership option to "Digest" is a very nice option to use for controlling the clutter [if you can call any message from the Ranchos group clutter] in your inbox.
