I too have just joined this group and will be posting my genealogy in the next day or so.  I am searching my line of Alvarez and actually have apretty extensive paper trail for them.  However, I have not been able to trace anyone who is living from that side.  I am sure they are out there.  May I inquire the names of the Alvarez you are researching?
