Well I was surprised that Valparaiso doesn't seem to have Batch
Numbers. . .at least that I can find. In my search I found this misc.
information that might be totally unrelated then again maybe not:

My name is Natalie Castro Coleman, and I was
graciously accepted to the ranchos group in late
January. I live in northern Virginia, near
Washington,DC. I was born and raised in southern
California (Los Angeles/near Boyle Heights; and
Cucamonga), but have lived in Virginia for over 30
yrs. My father was born at Hacienda Astillero,
Valparaiso, Zacatecas in 1912. He came with his
family to the U.S. in 1916. I have not done any
in-depth research in over 10 yrs., but have decided to
work on this family history - especially for my
grandchildren. If I am doing this correctly (I am not
a computer techie, and can only do the most
rudimentary of tasks) there should a message attached
that explains a little about my family heritage. So I
will close for now - I am happy to join so many
friendly and helpful people. Take care - have a great
weekend.
- Natalie
Note: forwarded message attached.

What a surprise to see your message to the group
regarding my recent message to you. So, I guess I
will have to jump in with both feet in light of the
fact that were TWO (!) responses. I will give you a
little background, but then I will have to compose
more detailed information in word and try to send it
as an attachment (I'm not sure if this is the correct
terminology - it isn't something that I do often, or
on my own - I usually have to have one of kids walk me
through the procedures).
My father, Jose de Jesus Garcia, was born at the
Hacienda del Astillero in 1912. He is registered in
Civil Record Book I (for Valparaiso; LDS#1081934), and
baptismal record book I (for Valparaiso; LDS#1164736).
I have not read much on the how of record keeping,
but it seems that the churches in rural areas had
their records held at a more centralized church (a
hierarchal situation I think).
His parents, Severiano Garcia and Maria Duenas, were
married in August 1905 (recorded in record book IV).
Severiano was born in 1879 in Sain Alto, the son of
Rafael Garcia and Carmen Martinez. An evaluation of
records indicates that the Garcia family moved from
the Sain Alto area to Astillero in about 1894.
Maria Duenas was born in 1887 in San Mateo, the
daughter of Pascual Duenas and Prisciliana Castro. By
1889 the Duenas family was in San Miguel. The Duenas
family also moved to Astillero in about 1894. The
Castro's appear to have moved there in 1892.
Those are the basics.
Note: In 1996 I had the opportunity to visit in
Zacatecas (the city), and Fresnillo, where I have some
3rd cousins. They were kind enough to take me to
Astillero (where their mother had been born, but where
they had never been). It is lightly populated, but
the church is still in use - The plaque records that
it was built at the request of Sra. Felguerez.
Note #2: My grandfather, Severiano, was a blacksmith
at the hacienda, and my grandmother and her mother
were house-servants.
Thanks again - take care,
Natalie Castro Coleman
PS: My grandfather changed his name to Castro when he
entered the U.S. - but that is another story.
