Just came home from listending to Dr. Joanne Rappaport, present a lecture on "Tracing
the Indigenous Voice in Latin American
Colonial Archives."
What a wonderful discussion that opened new thoughts about our
Indigenous ancestors with regards to the written notarial records. Even
though the discussion covered South America and not our research area
it was great to get a glimpse of the depth of records that are
available in the 16th century. Truly our Spanish forefathers kept great
records and it was encouraging to think that there exists a great
possibility of finding some information in the notarial records from
Guadalajara on my family. A lot more study needs to be done but I hope
to one day dive into these records to explore that possibility.
Just thought I'd share that with the group.
thanks,
joseph
