List Your Films Please: was FHC Westwood

okay, so now the cat is out of the bag. In the Ranchos2 files [look under "members films"] area is a place where members can list their permanent films. I know that some of those films might not be exactly yours but if you could why not make a list of all the films you have "permanently" available via your family history center that have to do with Jalisco, Zacatecas or Aguascalientes and add them to the list. If all the members would do this we could possible ask for an occassional emergency* look up or maybe some general information.

For example like I was surprised to see so many baptisms for Indios from Teocaltichi on the film for Tlaltenango. It seemed as if only the indios from Teocaltichi were listed and no others. thanks,

joseph

ps: *what exactly is an emergency genealogical look up?. . .hmmm, one that you just gotta have the answer to or you won't be able to sleep for a few days and you have exams coming up and you will have blown a whole semester of studying if you just don't get the answer you need. . .or something like that.

Hey Al,

Do you know the address for this FHC? I tried to look for it on
Familysearch.org but I cannot retrieve it.

If you live in Los Angeles or the surrounding towns,
the LDS Family Center in Westwood (near UCLA) is also
excellent. They have tons of microfilm from Mexico.

That is not silly at all. I believe this is one of
the best gifts you
can give to yourself. I myself wanted to go to Salt
Lake City in
several occasions, but I just haven't had the time.

According to some nice people that I met at a Family
History Center a
while back, you can just go to the Family History
Library and check
all the films they have there. However, it is a good
idea to call
them in advance just to make sure that some specific
films you are
looking forward to check are there. They could be at
another FHC in
the US at this time, but of course, if you have
several surnames and
locations to research, I believe that a trip to Salt
Lake City is
worth it. Well, that is just my opinion. I am sure
that other members
from this group will reply to your message and tell
you what they
think about your trip.

This may seem like a silly question to some, but

for my birthday in
March, I plan on gifting myself a trip to Salt Lake
City to do some
genealogical research. My question to those who are
experienced at
this is, do you need to request and reserve your
film there ahead of
time? or can you just arrive and make the request at
the time of
arrival?

Thanks for your help and if there's anything else

I should know
before I go, it would be great to glean that from
this group.

Muchas Gracias, Alicia..................
