In Mexico, when cousins have children, the children refer to the adults as "tio" or "tia". When an uncle or aunt weds, their respective spouse is referred to as "tio or tia" (politico (a)) also. The "politica" makes reference to the fact that they are uncle or aunt by marriage, not blood.
