Hi, Sally,
I am anxious to see your family trees for Olague. I am currently
researching the Olagues from Tepetongo. My father Guadalupe Olague was
born in Jerez in 1903, but his father and grandfather, etc for several
generations on his paternal side were born in Tepetongo in a community called
Salitrillo. I cannot find a record for my father's birth. My
grandfather's name was Francisco Olague. Francisco's father was Pedro
Olague and his mother was Rafaela Tinajero. There were Surianos on both
sides. The Tinajeros also used the surnames Flores, Felix or Suriano,
which is why I have had trouble finding some of my direct ancestors.
My father came to this country in 1913 when he was 10 years old. I
was born in Colorado, but I was taken as a small child to California (San Jose)
where I went to school then worked until 1996 when my husband and I retired and
we moved up here to the Northwest across Puget Sound from Seattle. My
husband is a Garcia Hinojosa Cervantes Aguirre. He was born in El Paso TX
and his ancestors were from Jalisco (Encarnacion de Diaz mostly) and
Aguascalientes. I think his Hinojosa grandmother was from Ciudad
Zacatecas. His Garcia grandfather and Cervantes grandmother came to this
country in 1895 from Jalisco.
Welcome to the group,
Emilie Garcia
