Re: [ranchos] Films on permanent loan.

Are you sure. . .maybe my use of the phrase ILL is wrong. I thought that if there was an area that didn't have a close by FHC that they would let the films go to a local library. Its not exactly an ILL but kind of. I thought that since that library that Victor attends has such user unfriendly hours that the FHL might consider allowing this. I really don't know. I might be absolutely wrong about this.

Joseph,

As far I as I know, the FHL does not do Inter Library Loan.  There are a few Public libraries, that do have film access.  But I do not know which ones they are.

why not talk to Salt Lake and pettition them to allow your films to be ILL to you local library. All they can do is say no. I've understood that in some cases they will do that, but maybe that's only when there are absolutely not FHC anywhere close. This might not apply in your case.

Jonathan do you know about this?

Peggy,

I understand your feelings.  The nearest FHC for me usually opens only
on Saturdays and just for three hours.  It has 2 projectors but only
one is in working order.  On my last visit I was shown a letter where
they were asking for the films I haven't even reviewed to be sent
back.  At this rate it'll take at least a couple of lives to find all
my ancestors.  jah!  Maybe I'll find myself in the next life!
