Re: successful trip & Garana surname

Mary,

Just curious to know if a person who is also searching for the Garana
surname in "Hispanic Genealogy Forum" is someone you know.

Read the following:

[quote]
Has anyone ever come across the surname GARANA? I am looking for any
information about my grandfather JOSE ADALBERTO GARANA and my
grandmother PETRA ROMERO GONZALEZ (GARANA). She lived in Salinas del
Penon Blanco, SLP,SLP and in the city of San Luis Potosi.

She was the child of VICTOR ROMERO GALVAN and the grandchild of MONICO
ROMERO CARRERA who may have lived in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco.

Of JOSE ADALBERTO GARANA I know only that he was somehow associated
with the Augustinians as a child and that later he was a jesuit
seminarian. He was never ordained. He had to leave San Luis Potosi
with Petra and three children in 1917 for being too outspoken. I have
some of his writings and I can see why some would find him
uncomfortable to their cause.
