While I don't tie into any of the family lines to most of these areas, Emilie's postings are some of the most inspirational. Emilie, you have a way of thinking and communicating that is charming and contagious. When you write I feel that you write from the heart and that you truly have a direct connection to the ancestors. I look forward to the day when we can meet face to face, just as we did in Sacramento yesterday. Yesterday's meeting was magical, to come face to face with people who may or may not have common ancestors but have the same love of family, Mexico and it's traditions and the desire to assist others in their research. Traveling with Helyn was wonderful. I first met Helyn on-line via the ranchos group when she invited me to go to the Fremont FHC which is a considerable distance from my home. We have been seeing each other at the Fremont FHC since the spring and had met previously with Rich and Kitty Cortez and we met with Joseph and
his wife last August during their whirlwind trip to California. I feel that my family is expanding by leaps and bounds. Yesterday 13 of us gathered in a quaint restaurant in downtown Sacramento within close proximity of the capitol building. After the meeting 6 of us walked over to the newly renovated St Joseph Cathedral of Sacramento. It too was a magical and spiritual experience. La Virgen de Guadalupe is surrounded by Juan Diego and Santo Toribio among other saints. Helyn has already shared with you her experience in finding lost friends through Robert Hernandez. Robert your family is truly a beautiful family who so warmly received us into their home with a loving attitude and open arms and feed not only our spirit but our belly. Thank You Robert and give my love to all who were present but especially to your nina Marian. All in all it was a great experience. We each introduced
ourselves and told our story, what inspired or compelled you to research your family history, how long have you been researching? What topics of interest do you want to discuss or present for future meetings. It was agreed that for the time being we would like to meet quarterly. That invitation is extended to anyone else in Ranchos regardless of whether you are in the Northern California area or not. I will leave it to the Sacaramento hosts to communicate to ""Ranchos members"the minutes of the meeting and any other pertinent information. Muchas Gracias a Irma, Maria Cortez, Nena Uhlenberg, Robert Hernandez, Rich and Kitty Cortez, Anna Smith and all of Robert's cousins who are also conducting family research and may want to join Ranchos. Hasta Luego familia.....Alivia Avelar Olmos de Carrillo de San Jose, Ca
