I stand corrected as far as I made a
mistake in the message. After the word example: Navy, the word Navy
doesnt belong there, the word should have been Army.
What I am saying is that the isignia is not
"Universal" as your husband states. He is right when he says that a
Captain's insignia in the Navy is an eagle, but in the Air Force it is the
insignia for a Colonel! A Captain's insigina in the Air Force is two
bars!
PS: I spent 5 years in the U.S. Air
Force and for ten years, every two months, I would travel aboard a Mexican Navy
Coast Guard Cutter.

John As a former Marine I don't believe you are
correct: Two bars in the U.S. Navy was a Lieutenent. A Captain insignia
in the Navy an Eagle. The Navy LT. did wear two bars {bands} but on his
sleeve. The Captain had four on his.
