so sorry to hear about your brother. I don't know of ways to preserve 
the DNA without one of the collection kits sent out with the test. I 
might be wrong about this but I think there are more expensive tests 
that can be done with hair. Another thing to consider is does your 
brother have any male children because you can pick up your dad's side 
via his male children and you can get your mom's mom's mom's etc side 
via your own MtDNA.
