Very interested article, especially the DNA
project.
Also, the last name Andrada. MY
great-----grandmother (1650, Zacatecas) had the last name de Andrada
and I'm not having any luck tracing her family. Maybe the DNA project
would help?

here is Gary Felix's DNA page about the project:
http://members.tripod.com/~GaryFelix/index63.htm
here you can find more info and pricing specifics (12 marker = $99/25
marker = $169 project pricing)
as to whether the DNA project could help, well yes its possible. But
you probably don't have any Mt-DNA from your grandmother, your Mt-DNA
is only from your mother and your Y-DNA is from your father and his
father and his father etc----->
but lets say that your mom's mom's mom (ie your great grandmother) is
the Andrada that you seek then maybe you will find success in doing a
DNA test, but if you are going back to 1650 its more like your mom's
mom's mom's mom's mom's mom's mom's mom's mom or something like that
and the chances of it always being the mom and not going back in forth
male to female to male to female sometimes would be pretty small. It
would be especially helpful if you know Andrada relatives now that you
could compare results with. Its kind of confusing and I'm just
scratching the surface of understanding it.
here is my page of results. As you will see it appears I'm Jewish,
Arabic, and Irish amongst others like Spanish:
