Hi All, I got this email and was wondering if any of it looks familiar to anyone. . .it is pretty vague but you never know. joseph ps: I just got back from Washington DC. I went to the National Archives for an introduction. I'd advise this as a source of info to anyone that has some roots in the US. Of course that is not in the topic of this group and I'd be glad to talk to anyone off group about my brief introduction to the Archives. I also got some great photos of some of the monuments and of my cousin, Miguel Puentes' name that is on the Vietnam War memorial. There is a lot of stuff about Mexico at the Archives but probably harder to find I'm guessing. pps: I did find a map at the archives that had a Rancho on it named Refugio and I was wondering if that might have been a map of the area before the name turned to Tabasco, Zacatecas. . .I'm unsure. ======================== I saw your post about the yahoo group on Jalisco. I have a relative
that is believed to have come from that area and family traditions say that
he was a general in the spanish or mexican army. He was a general over
a fort in the area. His name is Patricio Trevino and he married Micaela
Del Castillo she attended a university for girls in Guadalajara Jalisco.
Patricio owned a beautiful silver saddle that his granddaughter inherited
from him. I have not gone back passed this time with this line. I place
them about 1850 or so in the area. They had at least one daughter Marie
Ignacia Trevino who married Dionicio Villanueva. Marie Ignacia travelled
to Tamaulipas while pregnant with her second child and died in child birth. I
don't know if your collection and information would be beneficial to finding information
about the area of Jalisco and the history so we can find the relatives of
Patricio or Micaela. I don't want to waste time in the wrong email group.
Please advise.
